Interview

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIafl2Mjye4

I believe this is a good interview because Oprah is so engaged with what Rihanna has to say; her questions show that she cares for the topic. Where the interview takes place gives Rihanna a sense of comfort, if the interview would have taken place in the studio she would not have been as comfortable answering the personal questions, the fact that the interview is in a living room makes it more intimate. Another reason I think this is a good interview is because the beautiful scenery takes away from the dark subject they are discussing

Communities in College

In this weeks reading It Takes A Tribe by David Berreby. We read about the communities that are formed in college. I completely agreed with this essay; it brings up very valid points that I have been noticing myself, my months here at Bridgewater State. What stuck out to me in the reading is when Berreby states "Human beings will give a lot, including their lives, for a group they feel a part of." I have been noticing that people in college tend to do anything to be a part of a group even if it's not the group they belong in. People are so caught up with fitting in they forget to just be themselves and find who they are first. They ultimately give their lives away by not actually giving themselves time to find out who it is they are, what it is they truly want, and where it is they want to go. By joining a group just to fit in and not be alone they are actually taking away from themselves.

Collage

My digital collage is going pretty good so far. I am trying to use my hobby of film as my theme. I am using Glogster so I can add one of my videos. This video shows what kind of person I am creatively and kind of person at heart. I feel like thats a huge part of identity. I am also using a lot of pictures of items not necessarily people. Most of the items I am using symbolize my relationships with friends, family, and my relationship with myself and goals.

Cliques and Things

In the reading by Emily White "High School's Secret Life" it talks about the cliques that get formed in high school and how you realize them especially during lunch time. I would have to agree with reading for many reasons. I know people hate excepting the fact that they are in cliques but its inevitable, it happens. For example, me and my closest friends in high school were considered a clique because we were always together. We were not trying to be labeled or seen as anything we just really enjoyed spending time together.
The matter of the fact is that when you find a group of people who you can connect with due to similarities and sharing things in common, you are going to want to hang out with them because the vibes are better then hanging out with people who might not understand you. Understand your jokes, understand your lifestyles, and overall just not get you. You might feel like you are being judged often. So this is why I feel like people tend to form cliques, because its the people they can mostly connect with and make them feel accepted while enjoying each others companies.
