Hip-Hop Life

In class we are learning about entertainment and how it is one of three assumptions; just for fun, a reflection of culture, or a personal choice. I would personally agree with all three but most of all I agree with the assumption of entertainment being a reflection of culture. Just like in the reading "Hip-Hop Life" I too would agree that lyrics and music are a reflection of your culture like we discussed in class. Not a culture like your nationality or lifestyle but a life. I write spoken word poetry and it reflects my life, what I have gone through, what I go through, and how it affects me. My life and its events is my culture.
More then that, I am more entertained by things I enjoy, and the things I enjoy are usually because I grow up seeing or hearing and learning about those things and they were appealing to me. My life shaped my interest, hence my culture shaped my interest. If I would have had a different life growing up and learned what was appealing to me differently, what I find entertaining might have been different. So I would have agree with that assumption the most.
